Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team in San Francisco. As an Underwriter, you will evaluate insurance applications to determine potential risks and coverage terms. You will work closely with insurance agents and clients to provide insights and recommendations supporting risk assessment and management.

Responsibilities

• Develop underwriting models to enhance risk evaluation efficiencies.
• Enhance client relations by providing clear communication regarding underwriting decisions.
• Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends affecting underwriting practices.
• Advise clients on how to reduce risks and improve their insurability.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of underwriting processes and communications.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or related field
• Master's degree or equivalent work experience preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting large insurance risks

Technical Skills

• Financial Analysis
• Data Interpretation

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills
• Problem Resolution

Certifications

• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)
• Associate in Risk Management (ARM)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in working with underwriting guidelines: Hands-on experience with drafting and maintaining underwriting manuals.
• Familiarity with electronic underwriting systems: Proficient in using software applications for underwriting purposes.
