Job Description

As a Special Education Teacher, you will provide tailored education and support to students with exceptional needs, including learning disabilities and developmental challenges. Your role will involve developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), collaborating with parents and other educators, and creating a nurturing environment where every student can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and document students' abilities and needs to inform instruction.
  • Collaborate with parents and guardians to ensure active involvement in their child's learning.
  • Support students in the development of social skills and emotional self-regulation.
  • Implement behavior management techniques and strategies to address challenges.
  • Participate in committee meetings regarding student evaluations and IEP development.
  • Foster a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere that encourages learning.
  • Attend training and workshops to continually develop professional skills.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local special education regulations.
  • Coordinate with therapists and other specialists to provide holistic support.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field is preferred
  • Valid state teaching certification in Special Education
Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience working with students with exceptional needs
