Steam Shovel Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Steam Shovel Operator to join our dynamic team. The operator will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a steam shovel to excavate and move materials at construction sites, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate steam shovels for excavation and earthmoving tasks.
• Conduct safety evaluations of equipment prior to use.
• Maintain communication with site leads to align on project goals.
• Document hours worked and machine hours for reporting.
• Perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
• Assist in implementing safety improvements at the job site.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
• Support team members by sharing expertise and operational tips.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical school training in heavy equipment operation is a plus

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years operating heavy equipment

• Heavy Equipment Maintenance

Certifications

• OSHA Safety Training Certification
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• First Aid and CPR Certification: Additional training in emergency response is a plus.
• Familiarity with excavator operation: Experience operating other heavy machinery such as excavators.
