Job Description

As a Dance Costume Designer at Creative Arts Productions, you'll be responsible for developing original costume designs that enhance dance performances. Your role will involve close collaboration with choreographers and dancers to understand their artistic visions and translate them into visually stunning costumes.

Responsibilities

• Design original costumes tailored to the specific needs of dance performances.
• Work with dancers and choreographers to ensure costumes align with movement requirements.
• Choose materials that are both visually appealing and practical for performance.
• Measure dancers for perfect fits and create patterns from those measurements.
• Fit, alter, and finalize costumes to ensure optimal performance and comfort.
• Oversee the costume making process, collaborating with a team of designers and makers.
• Stay updated on fashion trends that can inspire creative costume solutions.
• Attend dress rehearsals and adjust costumes based on feedback from the artistic team.
• Organize costume storage and management, ensuring all pieces are well-maintained.
• Work efficiently to meet project timelines and budgetary limits.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Costume Design, Fashion Design, or related discipline
• Preferred: Master's degree in the arts

Experience

• 2+ years of relevant experience in a performing arts context

Certifications

Languages
