Special Education Teacher, Preschool

Job Description

As a Special Education Teacher in our preschool program, you will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs. This includes providing specialized instruction in a supportive, inclusive environment that fosters academic progress and growth.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to maximize educational opportunities for students.
• Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities in school meetings.
• Implement behavior management plans to support student engagement and learning.
• Provide training and support to paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom.
• Encourage families to be active participants in their child's education.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
• Master's degree in Special Education preferred

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience working with preschool children with special needs

Technical Skills

• Behavior management
• Educational software proficiency

Soft Skills

• Patience
• Team collaboration

Certifications

• ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) training
• Crisis Prevention Intervention certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC): Experience working with AAC devices to aid communication for students.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team: Collaborative experience with educational and therapeutic teams.
