Job Description

As a Dance Historian, you will be at the forefront of researching and documenting the evolution of various dance forms. This role involves collaborating with performers, curators, and fellow historians to analyze dance movements, interpretations, and impact on culture, providing crucial insights for our educational initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Research and document the evolution of dance forms, focusing on cultural impacts.
  • Write and present scholarly articles, papers, and other materials on dance history.
  • Network and collaborate with dance practitioners and fellow historians.
  • Engage in community outreach efforts through presentations and workshops.
  • Contribute to the assessment and improvement of educational programs.
  • Assist in curation of exhibits and materials for public display.
  • Develop collaborative projects with other institutions focused on dance research.
  • Provide mentorship to students and interns in dance research.

Requirements

Education
  • PhD preferred in Dance Studies or a related area
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in academic research and publications in dance history
