Job Description

As a Patient Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth patient journey. Your responsibilities will include scheduling appointments, coordinating with medical professionals, and addressing patient inquiries to deliver an exceptional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
  • Effectively communicate with patients and provide necessary information about their appointments, including pre-visit instructions and other relevant details.
  • Collect and update patient demographic information, medical history, and insurance details accurately.
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for medical procedures.
  • Assist in the coordination of referrals to other healthcare providers and follow up on their reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy and security regulations.
  • Handle patient inquiries, resolve concerns, and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate processing of patient invoices.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and provide suggestions for process enhancement.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field
  • Certification in medical office administration or similar is preferred
Experience
  • 2-5 years of experience as a Patient Coordinator or in a healthcare setting
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in medical billing and coding software
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software

Certifications
  • National Certified Medical Office Assistant (NCMOA)
