Job Description

As a Play Writer, you will be responsible for creating original scripts for theatrical productions. You will collaborate closely with directors, producers, and actors to refine scripts and ensure they resonate with audiences. Your creativity and understanding of theatrical storytelling will shape our productions.

Responsibilities

  • Create scripts that resonate with contemporary audiences while honoring traditional forms.
  • Foster a creative environment through collaboration during the writing process.
  • Attend regular meetings with the artistic director to discuss ongoing projects.
  • Build a portfolio of scripts that reflect a diverse range of voices and stories.
  • Engage with actors to understand their perspectives and enhance character development.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in Theater or Creative Writing is preferred
Experience
  • Experience with children or youth theater is a plus
Technical Skills
  • Portfolio of original scripts
Soft Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience with screenwriting: Ability to adapt stage scripts for film or television format.
  • Knowledge of theater history and trends: Understanding of influential theatrical movements and styles.
