Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our team in New York City. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and reviewing insurance policies and agreements, collaborating closely with underwriters, actuaries, and other industry professionals to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess risks for various types of insurance applications.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to tailor insurance products to client needs.
• Stay updated with changes in insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
• Create and maintain documentation of underwriting decisions.
• Analyze market trends to contribute to product development.
• Participate in training and development programs to enhance underwriting skills.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Master's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance writing or related field

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of relevant software platforms and tools (e.g. Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint)

Soft Skills

• Research and analytical skills
• Interpersonal skills

Certifications

• Relevant industry certification such as Certified Insurance Counselor

Languages

• English: Fluent
