Solar Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Solar Design Engineer to help us expand our solar offerings. In this role, you will analyze site conditions and develop solar proposals that maximize output while being cost-effective. Your expertise will promote the adoption of renewable energy and foster sustainable practices in diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Develop solar energy system design plans based on project specifications.
• Perform detailed calculations and analyses to ensure system efficiency.
• Create technical documentation, including design reports and schematics.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure successful project execution.
• Stay current with developments in solar technology and regulatory changes.
• Advise clients on best practices for solar installations.
• Oversee the training of junior engineers and interns within the team.
• Evaluate new technologies to incorporate into design practices.
• Facilitate communication between project stakeholders and technical teams.
• Lead initiatives that promote sustainability within the organization.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
• Master's degree preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in solar design engineering

Technical Skills

• Microsoft Office
• SketchUp

Certifications

• NABCEP Certification
• LEED Green Associate certification preferred

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with PV Simulation Tools: Hands-on experience with PV simulation software to optimize solar designs.
• Familiarity with Local Regulations: Knowledge of federal and local regulations affecting solar energy installations.
