Job Description

As the Harbor Master, you will play a crucial role in overseeing daily harbor operations, managing vessel traffic, and ensuring all maritime activities adhere to safety regulations. Your leadership will help promote environmental sustainability and coordinate with various maritime stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise daily operations within the harbor to optimize safety and efficiency.
• Ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal maritime regulations.
• Liaise with harbor pilots and other marine professionals for effective operations.
• Track and document all vessel movements and harbor incidents.
• Plan and manage maintenance activities for harbor facilities.
• Lead emergency response efforts during accidents or adverse weather events.
• Encourage environmentally sustainable practices within harbor operations.
• Deliver outstanding service to harbor users while responding to inquiries.
• Work collaboratively with local and federal agencies on regulatory matters.
• Research and implement best practices for harbor management.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Harbor Management, or equivalent
• Harbor Master Certification or similar

Experience

• 5+ years in a supervisory role within harbor management
