Job Description

A Fire Captain leads and supervises a team of firefighters, managing fire prevention and emergency response efforts. You will ensure community safety, coordinate firefighting operations, and oversee fire prevention activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of firefighters, providing guidance, training, and evaluation of performance.
  • Implement firefighting strategies and tactics during emergency situations.
  • Coordinate fire prevention activities, inspections, and enforcement of fire codes.
  • Maintain and operate firefighting equipment and vehicles.
  • Respond to emergency calls, assess situations, and direct firefighting operations.
  • Conduct fire investigations to determine causes and origins of fires.
  • Collaborate with other emergency services to ensure effective response.
  • Prepare and present reports on department activities, incidents, and training.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to educate the public on fire safety.
  • Stay updated on advancements in firefighting techniques and safety protocols.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized firefighter training program
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a firefighter, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
