Job Description

As a Log Grader and Scaler, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the safety and integrity of our vessels. Your primary task will be to scale and prepare ship decks for maintenance, ensuring all surfaces are free from rust, paint, and debris. We seek individuals who are detail-oriented and capable of physical work in sometimes challenging conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Scale decks effectively to prepare for maintenance by removing debris, old coatings, and contaminants.
  • Use safety harnesses and personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Document the work completed each day and communicate with the deck supervisor.
  • Assist other crew members in their tasks as necessary.
  • Identify areas requiring special attention and communicate these to team leads.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned and stored after use.
  • Participate in safety drills and ongoing training sessions.

Requirements

Education
  • Completion of a scaling training course or apprenticeship program
Experience
  • Experience with different types of scaling equipment preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of safety procedures
  • Ability to work at heights

Languages
  • English: Fluent
