Job Description

As a Sawing Machine Setter, Operator, and Tender, you will play a critical role in our timber processing operations. Your main responsibility will be to operate and maintain sawing machinery to cut logs into specified shapes and sizes. We seek individuals who are meticulous, safety-conscious, and possess strong technical skills. An understanding of the logging industry and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Set up sawing machines and adjust for different projects and lumber specifications.
  • Perform quality checks on sawn logs to ensure they meet industry standards.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to improve operational workflows.
  • Perform daily safety checks and report discrepancies.
  • Assist with training programs for new operators.
  • Document operational processes and logs of production outputs.
  • Manage the workflow efficiently to minimize waste and maximize throughput.
  • Troubleshoot minor technical issues and notify senior staff of major repairs.
  • Stack and label finished lumber for accurate identification.
  • Engage in continuous improvement discussions enhancing safety and productivity.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary degree in forestry or related field is preferred
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in sawmill operations or logging
