Technical Writer

Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our team in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will be skilled in creating clear, concise documentation and will have a strong understanding of software development processes. You will work closely with developers and project managers to produce user manuals, technical documentation, and online help files.

Responsibilities

• Revise existing documentation based on updates in software and user feedback.
• Participate in technical meetings to stay informed about product changes.
• Implement feedback from technical reviews and stakeholders.
• Ensure all documentation meets established standards and guidelines.
• Maintain a documentation database for easy access and updates.
• Assist in training staff on documentation standards and tools.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication or related field
• Master's degree is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in technical writing

Technical Skills

• Content Management Systems
• API Documentation

Soft Skills

• Communication
• Project Management

Certifications

• Technical Communication Certification from STC

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with Software Tools: Experience with software tools like JIRA for project tracking.
• Experience in User Experience (UX) Design: Knowledge of UX principles for user-centered documentation.
