Job Description
As a Justice of the Peace at Springfield Justice Court, you will preside over court proceedings, issue warrants, and ensure compliance with court procedures. Your role is vital in promoting a fair justice system.
Responsibilities
Oversee legal proceedings and adjudicate cases fairly.
Issue orders of protection and other legal orders.
Ensure all parties understand court processes.
Maintain decorum in the courtroom and address any disruptions.
Train and mentor new court staff.
Collaborate with law enforcement on judicial matters.
Engage in continuing education on legal matters.
Work with diverse communities to enhance access to justice.
Prepare and write detailed rulings and opinions.
Participate in legal workshops and community forums.
Requirements
Education
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Experience
5-10 years of legal practice or experience working in a judicial setting
