Job Description
A Wharf Tender is responsible for facilitating the safe and efficient loading and unloading of cargo at a wharf or dock. They ensure that vessels are securely moored, operate equipment, and monitor cargo movement.
Responsibilities
Supervise loading and unloading operations, adhering to safety protocols.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure operational safety.
Manage inventory and maintain accurate records of cargo movement.
Train new employees on safety standards and operational procedures.
Act as a liaison between dock staff and shipping companies.
Assist in emergency response drills and ensure preparedness.
Requirements
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
3+ years of experience in cargo operations or marine logistics preferred.
