Sailors and Marine Oilers

Job Description

As a Sailor or Marine Oiler, you will play an essential role in the operation and maintenance of our vessel's deck area. You will assist with mooring, cargo operations, and the upkeep of important equipment while ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Take part in maintaining the overall functionality of the vessel
• Prepare equipment for emergencies, including lifeboats and safety gear
• Keep records of daily operations and maintenance tasks
• Assist in navigating and charting safe routes when needed
• Contribute to a positive team environment focused on collaboration and safety

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Prior experience as a Deck Hand or in a similar maritime role is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in operating deck machinery
• Knowledge of maritime safety procedures

Soft Skills

• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Physical fitness and endurance

Certifications

• Valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)
• STCW Basic Safety Training certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Additional maritime certifications or licenses: Certifications such as Lifeboatman or Tankerman endorsements are desirable.
• Experience with specific types of vessels: Experience on fishing boats, cargo ships, or passenger vessels is a plus.
