Job Description

As a Library Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining our library’s operations while providing exceptional support to our patrons. Your responsibilities will include assisting visitors in navigating our resources, managing library materials, and contributing to our programming initiatives that promote literacy and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Help patrons with circulation and reference inquiries.
  • Manage cataloging and classification of materials to ensure proper organization.
  • Assist in the development of library programs and outreach initiatives.
  • Provide technical assistance to patrons using computers and digital resources.
  • Supervise and train volunteers and library aides as needed.
  • Perform collection development duties by recommending materials for purchase or withdrawal.
  • Prepare reports and assist in budgeting for library resources.
  • Participate in community outreach efforts to promote library services.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
  • Master's degree in Library Science is a plus
Experience
  • 2-5 years of experience working in a library or educational setting
