Makeup Artist, Theatrical and Performance

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Makeup Artist for theatrical and performance productions. The ideal candidate will have experience in various makeup techniques, including special effects, and a strong eye for aesthetics to enhance character portrayals.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other departments to discuss vision and themes.
• Conduct makeup tests for actors prior to performances.
• Manage makeup supplies and ensure timely procurement of products.
• Train junior makeup artists and interns in best practices.
• Maintain a safe and organized workspace.

Requirements

Education

• Associate's degree in Theater Arts or related field
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in makeup artistry for theater or film

Technical Skills

• Makeup Application Techniques
• Wig Styling and Maintenance

Soft Skills

• Time Management

Certifications

• Advanced Makeup Techniques Certification
• Licensed Cosmetologist

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience using LED Makeup Products: Knowledge of special lighting products that enhance makeup application.
• Familiarity with Historical Makeup Styles: Expertise in recreating makeup looks from different historical periods.
