Job Description

The Severe/Profound Mental Handicaps Special Education Teacher will work with preschool students facing significant cognitive and physical challenges. You will design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) while fostering a supportive environment for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement IEPs for students with severe/profound mental handicaps.
  • Employ various teaching techniques to engage students and cater to unique learning styles.
  • Regularly evaluate and report on student progress to inform parents and guardians.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of educators and specialists to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Record and monitor students' academic and behavioral progress.
  • Attend training sessions to continuously improve instructional practices.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere for students to thrive.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • State certification in Special Education
Experience
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience working with students with severe/profound mental handicaps
