Juvenile Justice Detention Officer

Job Description

As a Juvenile Justice Detention Officer, you will supervise and manage juveniles placed in detention while providing guidance and support to help them reintegrate into society. This role requires maintaining order, conducting assessments, and facilitating programs aimed at their rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily activities of juvenile detainees to foster a positive environment.
• Enforce facility rules and regulations consistently and fairly.
• Conduct safety checks and ensure all safety protocols are adhered to.
• Address any incidents or behavioral issues immediately and effectively.
• Coordinate with education and counseling staff for the juveniles' benefit.
• Create reports documenting incidents and detainee progress.
• Organize and lead recreational activities.
• Participate in training and professional development.
• Engage with families when appropriate to discuss detainee's needs and progress.

Requirements

Education

• Some college coursework in Criminal Justice or Social Work

Experience

• Experience working with youth or in juvenile justice settings is advantageous.
