Job Description

As a Court Reporter, you will play a crucial role in the legal system. Your primary responsibility will be to create accurate, verbatim transcripts of court proceedings, depositions, and other official events. Utilizing advanced stenotype machines or voice writing equipment, you will ensure that every spoken word is documented with precision. Your work will require strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in court sessions and document proceedings using advanced stenographic methods.
  • Generate and transcribe legal documentation with utmost precision.
  • Review transcripts to ensure accuracy before distribution.
  • Manage and archive all official documentation related to court cases.
  • Ensure compliance with jurisdictional reporting standards.
  • Communicate with legal professionals to clarify terms or situations as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance with court reporting equipment as necessary.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance reporting skills.
  • Support the legal team by providing well-organized transcripts in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the coordination of scheduling and logistics for court reporting services.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a court reporting program or certification is preferred
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a Court Reporter or in a related role
Technical Skills
  • Stenography

Certifications
  • Valid court reporter license or certification (if required by state)
Languages
