Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and qualified Special Education Teacher to work with visually impaired students. You'll develop individualized education plans (IEPs), teach core subjects, and implement assistive technology to support their learning.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver individualized instruction based on IEPs and student needs.
  • Utilize assistive technology and adaptive materials in lessons.
  • Foster a positive classroom culture that encourages student engagement and inclusion.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student development and needs.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Work closely with occupational and physical therapists as needed.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field
  • Master's degree in Special Education preferred
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience teaching visually impaired students
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of Braille and assistive technology
  • IEP development and implementation

Certifications
  • State Teaching Certification
  • Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
Languages
  • English: Fluent
