Telescope Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

As a Telescope Maintenance Engineer, you will ensure the effective operation of telescope systems and equipment. Your role will involve working alongside other engineers and technicians to maintain, repair, and enhance telescope functionality. Ideal candidates possess strong mechanical and optical system knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and diagnostics on optical systems.
• Set up, calibrate, and operate telescope systems.
• Implement troubleshooting techniques to address system failures.
• Optimize equipment performance through effective repairs and maintenance.
• Work with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate research efforts.
• Document procedures and report findings to management.
• Participate in planning and executing equipment upgrades.
• Ensure laboratory and field safety practices are followed.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Master's degree in a relevant field is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with telescope systems

Technical Skills

• Cryogenic Systems Knowledge
• Adaptive Optics Experience

Certifications

• Telescope Operator Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous
