Job Description

The Community Interpreter plays a crucial role in facilitating communication for individuals with limited proficiency in English. This position involves interpreting in a variety of settings, including healthcare, legal, and social services.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate effective verbal communication in various settings.
  • Ensure cultural sensitivity during interpretation and translation processes.
  • Provide support and information to clients regarding community resources.
  • Document services rendered accurately and promptly.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements.
  • Attend training sessions to enhance interpretation skills.
  • Mentor junior interpreters as needed.
  • Respond to client inquiries and follow up on requests as necessary.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Interpretation and Translation, Linguistics, or related field
  • Relevant certifications are a plus
Experience
  • At least two years of experience in professional interpreting
