Job Description

As a Judge or Magistrate, you will preside over court proceedings, interpret laws, and render judgments to administer justice. This role requires a deep understanding of legal principles and a commitment to maintaining public trust in the judicial system.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hearings and trials in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Render judgments based on the law and case facts.
  • Review case files and legal documentation thoroughly.
  • Provide guidance to court personnel regarding procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys, litigants, and jurors.
  • Uphold ethical standards and manage confidentiality.
  • Participate in continuing legal education and judicial training.
  • Contribute to public outreach and education regarding the legal system.

Requirements

Education
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active law license in the state of Illinois
Experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of legal experience, including time as a practicing attorney.

Advantageous
