Job Description

As a Certified Genetic Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in assessing genetic risks and providing expert guidance to individuals and families affected by genetic disorders. You will utilize your knowledge and skills to interpret genetic test results and collaborate with healthcare teams to develop tailored care plans.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough evaluations of patients’ medical and family history to assess genetic risks.
  • Interpret genetic tests and convey findings effectively to patients and their families.
  • Deliver genetic counseling, combining emotional support with detailed explanations of genetic conditions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to create appropriate treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Contribute to genetic research and assist in publishing findings in academic journals.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in genetic testing and counseling practices.
  • Ensure confidential and accurate maintenance of patient records per legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Engage in professional development through conferences, workshops, and seminars.
  • Serve as a resource for healthcare professionals on genetic issues and counseling.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program
  • Certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling is mandatory
Experience
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in genetic counseling.
