Job Description

As a Substance Abuse and Behavioral Disorder Counselor, you will have the crucial role of helping individuals navigate their recovery from substance abuse. This position requires a compassionate approach and a commitment to providing effective support and treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions focused on recovery strategies.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
  • Engage families in the treatment process for greater effectiveness.
  • Document treatment efforts and outcomes in compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, social work) preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role or healthcare setting.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment methods and techniques
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy and compassion for patients
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
Certifications
  • Certification in substance abuse counseling or relevant field is advantageous
Languages
