Job Description

As a Probation Officer, you will play a vital role in monitoring student attendance and addressing issues related to truancy. Working closely with school administrators, families, and students, your efforts will help ensure that all children receive the education they deserve. Your responsibilities will include developing intervention strategies, maintaining detailed records, and collaborating with various stakeholders to foster a supportive educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track daily attendance, identifying patterns of truancy.
  • Engage with students during school visits to address attendance concerns.
  • Collaborate with educational staff to develop supportive attendance improvement plans.
  • Conduct interviews and assessments to determine the reasons for absenteeism.
  • Assist families in accessing community resources that support educational engagement.
  • Facilitate truancy intervention programs targeting at-risk youth.
  • Prepare and present cases for court regarding habitual truants.
  • Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive student information.
  • Report findings and progress in regular meetings with school administration.
  • Foster a positive environment where students feel encouraged to attend school.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field
  • Certification in truancy intervention is a plus
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth.
