Special Education Teacher - Middle School

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Special Education Teacher to join our middle school team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLDs) and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Assess individual student needs and develop appropriate educational strategies.
• Create and maintain a structured learning environment that meets diverse needs.
• Collaborate with other staff to support students in achieving their academic goals.
• Regularly update and review student records and IEPs.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other educators.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress and strategies.
• Utilize educational technology to enhance learning experiences.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
• State teaching certification in Special Education
• Experience with assistive technology preferred

Experience

• 2+ years of teaching experience in a special education setting.

Technical Skills

• Ability to use assistive technology
• Understanding of RTI frameworks

Soft Skills

• Organizational skills
• Empathy and patience

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with behavior management strategies: Skills in managing classroom behaviors effectively.
• Background in conducting professional development: Ability to train colleagues on effective teaching methods for special education.
