Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Medical Technician to support our ophthalmologists during eye examinations and surgical procedures. This role involves conducting preliminary tests, assisting in patient education, and maintaining ophthalmic equipment. The ideal candidate should have a keen eye for detail and a passion for patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough preliminary eye examinations and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Support the ophthalmologist during surgical procedures with necessary preparations.
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests to aid in patient assessments.
  • Educate and support patients regarding their eye care and treatment plans.
  • Ensure proper functioning of all ophthalmic instruments through regular maintenance.
  • Assist in scheduling patient appointments and optimizing clinic flow.
  • Provide assistance in the training of new ophthalmic assistants.
  • Follow all safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
  • Maintain clear communication with the ophthalmology team and patients.
  • Document and report any equipment malfunctions or patient concerns.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited ophthalmic assistant program or equivalent experience
Experience
  • Previous experience in an ophthalmology clinic is preferred.
Technical Skills

Certifications
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) - preferred
Languages
  • English: Fluent
