Job Description

As a Recreational Therapy Technician, you will play an essential role in enhancing the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational therapy programs designed to engage and motivate clients in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop recreational activities tailored to enhance physical, cognitive, and emotional skills of patients.
  • Lead therapy sessions, providing guidance and support to participants.
  • Document and report on client progress following established protocols.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to address the diverse needs of patients.
  • Maintain safety protocols during all recreational activities.
  • Support patients in setting achievable therapy goals.
  • Prepare materials and set up equipment for various activities.
  • Assist in organizing community outings to enhance social interactions.
  • Create a positive, engaging environment for all patients to thrive.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and team members.

Requirements

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s in Recreation Therapy or related field preferred
Experience
  • 1-2 years of experience with patients in a therapeutic or recreation setting
