Job Description

As an Ophthalmic Medical Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting optometrists in delivering excellent eye care services. You'll assist with eye examinations, maintain patient records, and ensure that all clinical operations run smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct support to optometrists during eye examinations.
  • Preparing patients for exams; including explaining procedures.
  • Performing technical duties such as visual field tests and fundus photography.
  • Managing the front desk and ensuring a welcoming patient environment.
  • Maintaining up-to-date patient files and ensuring accuracy in data entry.
  • Ensuring examination rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use.
  • Educating patients on pre- and post-test procedures.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks as needed to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal training or certification as an Optometric Assistant preferred
Experience
  • Prior experience in an optometric or healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
