Special Education Teacher - Profound Mental Handicaps

Job Description

As a Special Education Teacher for Profound Mental Handicaps, you will provide tailored educational experiences for students with profound disabilities. You'll develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate with a team of professionals to create a nurturing and effective learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute adaptive lesson plans that align with students' IEP goals.
• Implement behavior management strategies to encourage positive behavior among students.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide specialized support services.
• Engage students through interactive and hands-on learning experiences.
• Assist in the transition planning for students moving to post-secondary education or employment.
• Monitor and assist with the administration of medication as prescribed.
• Utilize data analytics to track educational progress and outcomes.
• Provide guidance and support to paraprofessionals and teaching aides.
• Maintain a positive and professional relationship with students and parents.
• Contribute to the overall development of the educational program in the special education department.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
• Relevant advanced certification is a plus

Experience

• At least 2 years of direct special education experience.
