Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Periodicals Librarian who will manage all aspects of our periodical collection. The ideal candidate will excel in cataloging, organization, and collection assessment to enhance resource accessibility for our library community.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the acquisition process of periodicals, ensuring compliance with budget limits.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the library's periodical subscriptions.
  • Support digitalization and preservation efforts of historical periodicals.
  • Assist in developing policies related to the management of periodicals.
  • Organize workshops and training for staff in periodical management.
  • Monitor usage statistics for periodicals and make informed decisions on renewals.
  • Help in preparing reports on periodical collection statistics and user feedback.
  • Improve cataloging practices and assist in the design of the catalog system.
  • Engage with library users to understand their needs and improve services.
  • Foster collaborations with academic departments to ensure resource relevance.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLS or MLIS) preferred
Experience
  • Experience working in an academic library with a focus on periodicals.
