Sexual Assault Counselor

Job Description

The Sexual Assault Counselor will provide counseling, support, and advocacy services to individuals who have experienced sexual assault. You will work closely with other professionals to ensure that clients receive comprehensive care and support throughout their recovery process.

Responsibilities

• Assist survivors in navigating the legal and medical systems.
• Provide crisis intervention and advocacy services.
• Conduct outreach and education to the community on issues related to sexual assault prevention.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care.
• Participate in regular supervision and training sessions to enhance skills.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field

Experience

• Minimum of two years of experience working with survivors of sexual assault or related trauma

Technical Skills

• Mental Health Knowledge
• Crisis Intervention Techniques

Soft Skills

• Analytical Skills
• Active Listening

Certifications

• Trauma-Informed Care Training

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Training in trauma-focused therapy: Certifications or training in trauma-focused therapy or related areas are beneficial.
