Job Description

As a Lighterman, you'll play a crucial role in operating our barges, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, and providing outstanding service to our passengers and crew. Your navigational expertise will be vital to our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Navigate and operate barges or other vessels safely along designated waterways.
  • Conduct pre-voyage checks to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
  • Maintain communication with crew and passengers, providing necessary information.
  • Ensure adherence to operational timelines, adjusting as necessary for weather conditions.
  • Document all operational activities and ensure records are maintained accurately.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service, addressing any passenger inquiries or concerns.
  • Assist in training deckhands and other crew members as necessary.
  • Implement emergency protocols and safety measures during incidents.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Participate in regular safety drills and training sessions.

Requirements

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • USCG License
Experience
  • 1-2 years of operation experience with passenger or cargo vessels
