Ophthalmic Laboratory Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Ophthalmic Laboratory Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for fabricating, finishing, and repairing ophthalmic lenses and eyewear. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills and a passion for enhancing patient vision.

Responsibilities

• Prepare prescription lenses from start to finish.
• Engage with customers to understand their needs and provide product recommendations.
• Implement improvements in laboratory operations for enhanced efficiency.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in optical technology.
• Assist with inventory management and ordering materials as necessary.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associates degree in Optical Technology is preferred

Experience

• 2-4 years of experience in an optical lab setting

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of optical lenses and frames
• Proficient in optical software

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Customer service skills

Certifications

• American Board of Opticianry Certification (ABO)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Previous experience in customer-facing roles: Experience in interacting directly with clients in a retail or lab setting.
• Knowledge of current optical trends: Understanding of the latest advancements in eyewear technology.
