Shipyard Painter Helper

Job Description

The Shipyard Painter Helper will assist the lead painter in preparing and painting various surfaces on ships, ensuring they meet the required standards of appearance and durability. This role involves working with a team to achieve high-quality results in a dynamic shipyard environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting, ensuring they are clean and ready for application.
• Assist in mixing paints and coating materials to achieve the desired consistency.
• Apply coatings with precision to various surfaces of the vessels.
• Keep track of inventory and notify management when supplies are low.
• Maintain a safe working environment by following OSHA guidelines.
• Work under the supervision of experienced painters to learn and grow in the role.
• Collaborate with other trades and departments for project success.
• Document work performed accurately for reporting.
• Participate in safety meetings and training.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• 1-2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a marine environment

Technical Skills

• Paint Mixing

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of marine-grade paints and coatings: Understanding the specifications and requirements for marine applications.
