Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Foundry Metallurgist to join our team in Detroit. As a Foundry Metallurgist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of metal castings produced at our facility. Your responsibilities will include optimizing processes and enhancing product performance through metallurgical analysis and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze raw materials and castings to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Create and maintain detailed records of metallurgical analysis and findings.
  • Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot any arising quality-related issues.
  • Implement new techniques to improve casting quality and reduce defects.
  • Conduct training sessions for foundry staff on best practices in metallurgy.
  • Assist in the development of new casting methods and materials.
  • Engage in routine inspections to verify the ongoing effectiveness of quality control processes.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams on innovative projects related to metal casting.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Metallurgical Engineer) is preferred
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in metallurgy and foundry operations
