Direct Care Counselor

Job Description

As a Direct Care Counselor, you will be responsible for providing essential support to individuals facing mental health challenges. Your role is vital in fostering a safe environment for healing and helping clients achieve their personal goals.

Responsibilities

• Support clients in maintaining independence through daily life skills training.
• Engage in therapeutic activities that promote mental and emotional well-being.
• Document client progress and incidents in electronic health record systems.
• Assist in de-escalating crisis situations and developing coping strategies.
• Work closely with a team of healthcare providers to achieve treatment goals.
• Participate in case management meetings to review clients' needs and progress.
• Ensure a clean and safe living environment for clients.
• Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the healthcare system.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Social Work preferred
• Certification in a related field is a plus

Experience

• 1-2 years of direct care experience with clients in a residential or community-based setting
