Job Description

The Solid Waste Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily waste management operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and implementing proactive waste reduction strategies. This role is pivotal in enhancing our sustainability efforts and engaging with the community on best practices for waste disposal.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning for operational waste management.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and resource allocation for waste management functions.
  • Foster partnerships with community organizations to enhance waste reduction efforts.
  • Conduct evaluations of current waste management practices and implement improvements.
  • Develop educational materials for the community regarding waste disposal and recycling.
  • Guide the team in implementing innovative waste reduction technologies.
  • Regularly review waste management policies and update as necessary.
  • Prepare legislative reports and compliance documents.
  • Engage in public speaking to promote organizational waste initiatives.
  • Participate in local and regional waste management forums to represent the organization.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional certifications in waste management or related areas are desirable
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in solid waste management or a related field
