Job Description

As a Battalion Chief in the City Fire Department, you will lead firefighting operations and manage a team of dedicated firefighters. You will ensure compliance with safety protocols while providing effective emergency response services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee training and skills development for firefighters.
  • Implement risk management strategies for emergencies.
  • Act as the point of contact for fire safety standards.
  • Report directly to the Fire Chief regarding operational issues.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback.
  • Participate in planning and development of community safety programs.
  • Foster community relationships to promote fire education.
  • Guide emergency medical response efforts as needed.
  • Develop action plans for various fire scenarios.
  • Maintain a high level of readiness and response capability.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Science or Emergency Management
  • Advanced training in firefighting leadership is preferred
Experience
  • 10+ years in firefighting, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
