Job Description

As a Perfusionist, you will operate the heart-lung machine during cardiac surgeries, ensuring optimal blood circulation and oxygenation for patients. You will be responsible for monitoring patient vital signs, administering medications, and maintaining the equipment necessary for these procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the operation of the heart-lung machine during critical surgeries.
  • Document and assess patients at various stages of surgery.
  • Educate patients and their families about perfusion-related aspects pre- and post-operation.
  • Conduct routine equipment checks and preventive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance surgical outcomes.
  • Engage in continuing education to stay current with advancements in perfusion technology.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in quality control and assurance processes.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Perfusion Technology or equivalent
  • Certification from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion
  • State licensure as a Perfusionist
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a hospital or surgical setting
Technical Skills
  • Cardiac Surgery Assistance

Advantageous

  • Experience in Complex Cases: Skill in handling complex surgical cases including heart transplants.
