Detention Officer

Job Description

As a Detention Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of inmates in our facility. This position involves overseeing the daily activities of detainees, enforcing facility rules, and providing support to maintain order.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily routines and activities of inmates to ensure compliance with facility rules.
• Conduct thorough inspections of the premises to maintain safety standards.
• Monitor video surveillance equipment and report any suspicious behavior.
• Assist in emergency response protocols and provide first aid when necessary.
• Engage with inmates to promote a rehabilitative environment.
• Compile incident reports and logs to maintain accurate records.
• Ensure all safety equipment is maintained and operational.
• Facilitate inmate programs and activities that encourage positive behavior.
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to discussions on facility operations.
• Assist in the onboarding and training of new staff members.

Requirements

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field

Experience

• Experience in dealing with diverse populations and managing conflicts.

Technical Skills

• Emergency response skills

Certifications

• Crisis intervention training

Languages

• Spanish: Basic
