Job Description

As a Customs Appraiser, you'll play a critical role in determining the value of imported goods according to regulations. This position requires thorough inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with customs laws and accurate valuation for tax purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess imported goods to ensure proper valuation for tax purposes.
  • Work closely with customs brokers and stakeholders to resolve documentation issues.
  • Keep abreast of changes in international trade agreements and customs processes.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of products and verify compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on appraisal findings and recommendations.
  • Act as a liaison between importers and government agencies regarding valuation disputes.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance expertise.
  • Utilize customs management software for documentation and record-keeping.
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures for appraisal processes.
  • Contribute to team initiatives aimed at improving customs compliance and efficiency.

Advantageous

  • Experience with customs management software (e.g., ACE, AESDirect): Familiarity with software used to process customs transactions.
