Job Description

The Blast Furnace Keeper will be tasked with operating and maintaining blast furnaces, ensuring safety and efficiency throughout the melting and refining processes of iron ore. This role is vital in ensuring optimal production rates while upholding quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Run and monitor blast furnace operations, adjusting settings as necessary for optimal performance.
  • Oversee material charging processes to the blast furnace.
  • Ensure furnace operational parameters are within the desired range.
  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery and implement necessary maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot operational inefficiencies and implement corrective measures.
  • Coordinate with maintenance crews on repairs and upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of production and furnace efficiency.
  • Enforce safety protocols to sustain a hazard-free work environment.
  • Train and develop new furnace operators, sharing knowledge of best practices.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical training in metallurgy or mechanical engineering preferred
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in metal refining or blast furnace operations
