Job Description

As a Correctional Officer, you will be responsible for the care and management of individuals in custody, focusing on their safety, welfare, and compliance with facility regulations. This role is essential in creating a supportive environment during troubled times.

Responsibilities

  • Assist juveniles and females during intake and throughout their stay.
  • Conduct regular security checks and maintain order within the facility.
  • Develop and maintain trusting relationships with individuals in custody.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to support emotional wellbeing.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies or altercations within the facility.
  • Compile reports on incidents and interactions with individuals under care.
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives to promote public safety awareness.

Requirements

Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a training program for Police Matrons is preferred
Experience
  • At least 1-2 years of experience working in public safety/law enforcement
Technical Skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of law enforcement protocols
Soft Skills
  • Empathy and sensitivity
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
Certifications
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR
  • Completion of law enforcement training program
Languages
  • English: Fluent
  • Spanish: Conversational
