Job Description

As a Deaf Interpreter, you will facilitate communication between deaf or hard of hearing individuals and hearing individuals across diverse environments. The role demands high proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, and a commitment to delivering accurate and neutral interpretations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver smooth interpretation for deaf individuals during educational sessions or corporate meetings.
  • Ensure that all interpreted communications are confidential and unbiased.
  • Cultivate relationships with clients to ensure their specific needs are met.
  • Advise on the best practices for achieving effective communication.
  • Document and report any relevant information back to supervisors.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in ASL Interpretation, Deaf Studies, or a related field
  • Master's degree in a related field is preferred
Experience
  • At least 3 years of professional interpreting experience, especially in legal or medical settings
